Club Director David Perry arranged an old Boys from 1970’s reunion at the Brewery Field for the Builth Wells fixture as guests of sponsor and Ath old boy Josh Llewellyn. They then adjourned to the Ath clubhouse.

In the attached picture kindly taken by club photographer John Canon 8 of the players featuring in the 1972-73 founding year team photo were present, Howard Leyshon, Mike Rennie, Mike Webb, Bryn Richards, Jeff Pope, Phil Rees & Carey Prior. 5 of those present were former club captains Mike Webb, Phil Rees, Jeff Pope, Howard Leyshon & David Perry with Deri Brine a 2^nd XV captain.

It is well documented that the club was formed in 1972 from the idea of players Phil Rees & the late Brian Lewis keeping a Bridgend Youth team together. Thanks to the efforts of those 1970’s players with many doubling as committee members, and their fundraising efforts we are currently able to field 2 senior sides, a youth team and M&J age groups from U7-U16. Also, a BARFC tots’ group 3yrs to 6.

Phil Rees has been a club treasurer, a former president and is currently club chairman, Mike Rennie was first ever club secretary in 1972 when club founded. David Perry was a treasurer and is now a Club Director. Phil & David have been active club members for all  the 51 years the club has existed.

Thanks to Yvonne for providing her usual excellent buffet on the night and the bar staff who kept the beer flowing as the old boys relived many happy memories of their playing days at the Ath!
